JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ
I was playing with PowerPoint, and I made a fully functioning version of the Jeopardy game show! I included here a blank "template" for creating a Jeopardy game for your classroom. This is a terrific teaching tool.
The files are in .ZIP format to make them easier to download. If you need to get WinZip go to http://www.winzip.com.
Read this for help on setting up your game:
| Naming Categories | Entering Questions | Notes on Saving | Playing the Game |
Naming Categories
- On the first slide, click on the column headings ("A", "B", etc.) to enter the categories of your questions.
Entering Questions
- In "Normal View," click on the "Outline" tab. There, you can easily add the text you need to each slide.
- Corel users: To access the outline feature, click the “Slide Outliner” tab on the right side of the screen.
- Add your question where it says "Question," and your answer where it says "Answer."
- Also, replace "A 100" with "Math 100", for example, making sure to match it to the categories you created on the main page.
Notes on Saving
- The PowerPoint file is a template. Save it where your other templates are stored.
- Do not write over the template file itself; save it as a presentation. This way, you can make several Jeopardy! presentations without changing the original template.
- You could save it to CD or write-protect a floppy disk to protect this original file.
- The Corel file is not a template, but it is read-only. That means your computer should prompt you to choose a new name each time you try to save the file with a new set of questions.
- Aviod saving over the original file; you can put it on a write-protected floppy or CD to protect it.
Playing the game
- To play the game, or to test it first, click on the View menu, and click Slide Show.
- Each number that you see is hyperlinked to the corresponding question slide. When you click a number, it will take you to the correct slide.
- Once there, click once on the background (near the center of the slide) to reveal the question.
- Then when you are ready, click again to reveal the answer. Each one will dissolve or slide into view.
Click on the red "Home" button after each question to go back to the first slide.
The number you clicked on will be gone. (MS PowerPoint only, sorry.)
Press ESC to end the game.
That should take care of it! Contact me from my home page if you have any questions.
